 A process called degaussing is one of ways in which IT experts remove data. Degaussing of hard drives removes data in order to completely erase the magnetic field from electronic media. Hard Drives Degaussing Hard drives and other storage devices like computer tapes store magnet field data. These storage media contain magnetic material layers.  A degustation machine subjected a disc to a magnetic field of high intensity, which completely rearranged the magnetic structure. The degausser randomizes the magnetization patterns by applying alternating magnetic amplitude fields. The final outcome is irrecoverable data.
